18 September 2007 We had an informal meeting discussing how to get relevant experience to apply for the doctorate training and what we learned from out post in research, as support worker or assistant psychologists.

Chloe Volz and Georgina Krebs informed us that a full-time assistant psychologist post is coming up in the OCD team in the next few months. It will be advertised on the nhs (www.jobs.nhs.uk) and SLaM websites (www.slam.nhs.uk).

29 August 2006 We broke into small groups and discussed (1.) Where we work (2.) What the clinical psychologists at our workplaces do (3.) What we do. (4.) What we have learnt. The intention was to gain a wider view of the psychology/health services, the roles people in our position can have and an idea of the different things a Clinical Psychologist. 22nd February 2005 - Some first year trainee psychologists will be coming for a question and answer session about the interview process for clinical psychology training courses.

25th January 2005 - Dr Julian Morris, Clinical Psychologist with Surrey Oaklands NHS Trust came to speak about working as a newly qualified psychologist within the NHS.

23rd November 2004 - The speaker was Melinda Edwards, Consultant Paediatric Psychologist at Guys Hospital.

20th April 2004 - Admissions tutor from IOP is coming to speak about their admissions process (to be confirmed - watch this space) - CANCELLED - Informal discussion about assistant psychologist posts took place instead

23rd March 2004 - 3 first year trainee psychologists (two from UCL, one from Surrey) came to discuss their experiences of the admission process and their impressions of their course so far.

27th January 2004 - There will be a discussion about the clinical psychology interview process and experiences.

24th November 2003 - The speaker will be Dr Martyn Baker, the Deputy Director of the Clinical Psychology course at UEL. He will be speaking about the course at UEL and he will be going through the application form showing what it is that they look for.

28th October 2003 - Attended by: 15:00 - 16:00 Garfield Harmon, the Co-ordinator for Continuing Professional Development/Clinical Co-ordinator on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Training Programme at Salomons. 16:00 - 17:00 Dr James Murray, who works half time on the University of Surrey PsychD Clinical Psychology course as a Research Tutor and half time at the North Hampshire Hospital in paediatrics. Dr Louise Deacon, Clinical Tutor from Surrey. She will be talking about what the training course at Surrey is like. Dr Louise Deacon and Dr James Murray will be doing a mock interview during their talk to show what questions are asked and a realistic idea of what is wanted from trainee clinical psychologists.

26th August 2003 - August's speaker was Jacqui Dillon from the Hearing Voices Network. HVN is one of a growing number of organisations that (amongst other things) are trying to increase the role of service users in the provision of mental health services. This goal also lies at the heart of the recent National Service Framework for Mental Health.

29th July 2003 - Anne-Marie Mendham, who is Head of Adult Psychology at the Northwick Park Hospital, spoke about the role of Counselling Psychology in the NHS.

17th June 2003 - This month's talk on Forensic Psychology was given by a member of HM Prison and Probation Service's Applied Psychology Group.
